all the vehicles registered between april 30, 2017 and april 30, 2019 will get the universal number plate and have to get it renewed after five years. all the vehicles that will be registered in punjab between april 30, 2020 and april 30, 2024 will get the universal number plate and it can be renewed every three years.
the universal number plate auctions will be held at the punjab excise and taxation department on november 7, 2017, and the vehicles registered for the period of april 30, 2017 to april 30, 2019 will get the plates. the first universal number plate auction will be held on november 7 and vehicles will be registered for the next five years. the universal number plate will be available in five colours white, silver, bronze, blue and green. the five-year period for which the universal number plate can be renewed has been fixed at three years.
